The seatbelt thing is just so easy to validate too. My state has a highway patrol database of accidents. From minor it drove away, to fatal.

nailed it!
Re: Minivans
That the Miata is a girls car/hairdressers car.
Re: Crossovers
I used to watch Top Gear, and then later on The Grand Tour, with my son. It was perfect silly stupid entertainment to bond over with a pre-adolescent and then adolescent. But between him growing up a bit, and both of getting bored of them just recycling the same schtick in ever more contrived scenarios, it got a bit…
There’s a peek here on something critical with the formula. Chemistry, every real TV show trying to recreate top gear from the ground up has done through with casting near complete strangers to be hosts and have them pretend like old argumentative friends. YouTube has a ton of great duos and trios who are successful…
Problem is, if it’s a motoring show like Top Gear and not a travel with cars show like TGT, who is going to do it? Top Gear got their trio from old Top Gear, who got there from being motor journalists. They gotta know cars well enough, and also be able to drive well. Sorry but motor journalists mostly aren’t good on…
The YouTube landscape has a lot going on but it’s still fairly fractured, you can’t go to one channel for crazy and sensible, which was part of the Top Gear appeal aside from the hosts. It still seems like there’s room in Netflix or HBOs lineups for a good car review show that could bring together the current state of…
Stop, stop. It’s already dead.
4600lbs dry - but with water, food, bedding and other items I estimate closer to 6k at times.
There really aren’t any of those anymore.
My ex wife was like this, fought me on it say that we needed a 3rd row SUV because we have 2 kids and what if each of them wanted to bring a friend to an event we’d need a 3rd row to accommodate everyone. To which I replied that if that’s the case someone could have my seat and I could just stay home... and now were…
Or worse they only have one child and need a gigantic suv. Tell me your defensive driving skills are shit without saying it.
“I need an HD truck” - Some random Boss guy
As an amputee (below-the-knee left side), I prefer automatics. But I actually don’t find rowing gears particularly fun even before my amputation. It’s just not worth it 99.999 percent of the time where an automatic is better in every way.
Variation. “Manuals make any car better.”
And then, there’s the what defines “American” car? Is my Chattanooga built VW, American? What about my neighbor’s Tuscaloosa built Benz? Grandpa’s Canadian Crown Vic? What about is my daughter’s Mexican built VW?
ugh, christ, this, a thousand times this.
From many of my car friends over the last ten years: “Electric cars will never be a significant part of the market.” In 2023 they sold 1.2 million in the USA (7.6% of the market). Even with the recent downturn there is no stopping this train from arriving at the station.
