Let me tell you what is not on the list: the godawful Mazda BP boat anchor in my Miata.

The best part of this was photographic evidence that Ferraris came with manual gearboxes at one point in time.
This. Wagons are a non-entity, crossovers are not only here to stay, but growing and eating into other segments. This is not a disputable fact. I like wagons. I've owned manual wagons. But projecting your own tastes or ideas of what the market "should be" versus seeing reality for what it is doesn't do anyone any…
A great example of how the oft-ignored retail sector (ignored by enthusiasts) can drive product decisions. Meanwhile, Infiniti gets to keep cranking out a car that is probably paid for, well liked in the market and seemingly a better drive than the Q50.
Since I live in Canada and am not eligible, Tom is acting as my proxy. It helps that this is exactly what I'd configure.
So it's an E46-sized sedan? Can I remove the "Gran Coupe" badges? If yes to both, I'll send a deposit ASAP.
How I feel when I see an F1. I don't think any car will ever surpass this in my books.
I just don't get it. People mock crossovers for having inferior cargo carrying capacity to a wagon. When a wagon comes out that fails to deliver on the promise of a wagon, people are silent.
I've driven the S60, XC70 and XC60. They're all indistinguishable from one another. An XC60 with the 4C chassis has the edge on the XC70 or S60 without it IMO. The main advantage to a V60, for now, seems to be telling people on the internet that "I have a wagon".
No, I disagree. This is not good enough. If you buy it, or get people to buy it, it's a validation of Volvo's poor planning. The XC70 is a proper wagon. You can fit tons of stuff in, and it goes like a runaway freight train with the T6 engine. The V60 is a half-measure lifestyle vehicle...a bit like a crossover, but…
I don't know Tom. I think that's selling ourselves short (and your clients). Just make a proper wagon, damn it, not some lifestyle vehicle. I say that as an ex V70 (5MT) owner.
Tom,
We are so far apart yet more like each other than any other automotive sites. On a personal level, we all get along though, despite the supposed "rivalry" some people think exists. I hung out with Raph and Jason at NAIAS. Patrick and I have had some good times drinking and talking cars and politics. I GChat with Matt…
I am pretty sure I have a Honda Crossroad JDM brochure that was requisitioned from Honda head office by a young Derek Kreindler while visting my Dad at work. Scan and put it on Kinja?
Wow. Many sad. So Pentastar. Much subprime. Very finance. Doge Avenger.
You are correct. I had the Pilot in mind when I wrote that.
Acura will only go RWD when Honda decides it's a good idea. They have some of the worst "Not Invented Here" syndrome in the industry. Look how long it took for them to bring out a V6 Accord, Minivan, CUV etc
Fun fact: SEAT was supposed to be launched in Canada in 1994, but the plan was cancelled at the last minute.
Maybe in the eyes of enthusiasts, but the average person is more concerned about whether the Santa Fe is a crapcan or not.
