I’ve got two. First one was a little risky, but worked out well in then end. In 2012 I flew ~1100 miles from central OK to Pittsburgh, PA to look/buy/pick-up a 2004 545i with the notorious N62 V8 and 83k miles. (I hadn’t really researched that engine a great deal) I then proceeded to drive it back home and then on a

Here’s a dumb #dieselgate joke on my tuned MKVI TDI.

I’ll be keeping MKVI Golf. It checks too many boxes for me. Just drove from Santa Fe, NM to central OK (626 miles) on 3/4 of a tank. 54.2mpg hand calculated. It can tow, is fun to drive, manual, and just feels solid. So far 57k miles of trouble-free driving, ~14k of those were spent towing this across the country

I’m planning to wait it out for a bit until a fix is announced and then decide from there. I would be just as happy to not accept any cash and keep driving the car as-is (tuned and deleted in a non-CARB state that doesn’t do emission testing). I’ve casually looked for a replacement since the scandal broke and I can’t

This. I replaced my wife’s 2004 545i with a 2014 Accord Sport last year. Once you accept the Accord for what it is, it’s hard to ignore how good it is. Very good value for money (we bought it CPO with 15k miles and paid just under $20k) and you feel like you can just change the oil and drive it forever.

1st Gear: This has me a bit unnerved. Both of our vehicles could have the Takata inflators: 2014 Accord and 2013 VW Golf. It’s hard to not think about it occasionally when driving down a dark country road anticipating a deer jumping out.
