Because it isn’t just a giant trench that stays at one level. It is a canal. Canals raise ships up and over higher ground via a system of locks and artificial channels and waterways, then down the other side. It has to have sufficient water at the top of the hump in order keep the artificial channels and basins

Is it?

Clue, now that’s a good movie.

Tatra is a Czech manufacturer that’s one of the oldest in the world.

For a brief period in the mid 2000s Infiniti had it. The G35 and M45 were winning comparisons and beating the Germans at their own game. Then they got lazy and completely dropped the ball.

I was thinking the same thing, that was certainly the BMW engine I would have picked for this slideshow. Most people are always surprised to know the late model e34 530i had a V8, rather than a straight-6. A friend of mine had a well kept one fitted with a Billy Boat exhaust, it sounded really good and was a lot of

If there’s one silver lining, it’s that an implosion would have been a quick death and they wouldn’t have suffered like they would if they suffocated.

Anyone remember this ad? Seems appropriate these days.

You should have bought mine

So what does the headline writer mean by taking airliners out of the jet age? I had my mouth all set for Return of the Living Unducted Fan or somesuch, or maybe rockets—they promised us rockets! Atomic rockets!—but it looks like two jet nacelles, only in an odd place...

This design is going to make it very difficult to see if there’s something on the wing.

But isn’t “According to Volkswagen” basically like saying “everything is made up and points don’t matter?”

If comfort in heavy traffic was the only consideration when buying a car, then they wouldn’t even be shopping for a GTI.

Better in what way? Faster, more fuel efficient? Sure. But I’m not sure it’s more fun. Personally, I’d take the fuel efficiency hit and the occasional PITA traffic (not all of us live in LA or NYC) for more fun.
