Yup.
Yup.
By the same token this is the first big screen team up of perhaps the three most famous superheroes of all time. One of which is a billion dollar grossing star on his own. When teamed with the other two, he’s right when he says that should probably out-gross Iron Man 3.
WB doesn’t get 100% of the box office. They get more in the US, less in places like China, but still not 100%.
You’re forgetting the marketing (estimated at $150 million), and that theatres keep (roughly) half the boxoffice. So, a more accurate breadown would be:
I think the evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of the idea that Snyder knows these characters far worse than anyone else currently employed because WB/DC’s television and animation divisions are going gang busters, including a recent animated Dark Knight Returns two parter.

I mean to be fair marvel barely makes superhero movies. It’s movies with superheroes in them. Which I know sounds the same but there is a distinct difference in how you approach those. Captain America has had two movies neither are really superhero-y. It’s a war movie and a spy thriller. DC(Warner Bros) doesn’t seen…
They don’t NEED to make any changes to their plans. There will be $300 million in advance tickets sales alone for Justice League movies.
What cemented it for me was that it also dropped nearly the same in China.
yup. they burned their final bridge with me: I'm going to wait till week two for every DC movie from here out, if I end up seeing it on the big screen at all. I -LOVE- movies. but, shit, "fool me once," etc...
We internet nerds spend a lot of time and effort trying to reverse engineer the insane studio voodoo in an attempt to understand why they behave like ludicrous insane people.
I don’t think Snyder could make a film that bad if he tried on purp...
Since the movie is still just 3 weeks out in theaters, they’re probably not going to confirm disappointment just yet, since that would be just shooting another hole in the ship.
Again, Warner seems to be under the impression that Snyder’s method is the only way to be different from Marvel. That’s just not the whole story. The tone does not get at the heart of the problem with Snyder which is that the films aren’t really films, they’re just a collection of shots. That’s a problem with the…
If you put Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman together in a live-action movie for the first time ever, don’t you think that movie should probably outgross Iron Man 3?
They don’t NEED to make any changes to their plans. There will be $300 million in advance tickets sales alone for Justice League movies.
learning absolutely nothing from the movie’s problems
See that’s the thing, they know they screwed up otherwise Suicide Squad would not be going back for reshoots to add more humor. We know that they are doing this, so why are they denying it? They should just fess up and admit that the “dark tone” is not working.
Why is anyone surprised or shocked by WB’s reaction? After all, this is the studio that thought it was a good idea to spend $105M on a Point Break remake. Clearly logic and good sense are lost on the WB studio execs.
Rob, aren’t you the one who initially broke the “The Board Room Table at Warner Bros. is Just There to Hold Up the Cocaine” story a while back?
