Fuck Ron for hoarding and destroying all those cars. He’s no hero - he’s an asshole for buying all those things and leaving them outside in the weeds. He is not to be felt sorry for and certainly doesn’t deserve articles of affection and sorrow.

He priced them in line with what they’d have sold for if they actually drove & weren’t rotted out/with animals inside of them/etc.

Not the scrap he was selling.

I have long dealt with having to limit the size of my collections of various objects, so Ron’s story hits home with me. In so many ways I feel bad for him. It has to hurt to see these vehicles go away..

Rich white Americans turning up for poverty tourism? Those were the good old days.

Yeah, Ford really fucked over Jaguar and Volvo, they should have followed GM’s lead with Saab.

I HAVE SEEN THIS FIRST HAND!

Anna, given your clear (and justifiable) suspicion of attractive cis-het white couples voluntarily glorifying a way of living that many people who don’t share all those privileges have been involuntarily living, I’d love your thoughts/experiences/observations on whether this has nevertheless created positive

That’s pretty funny, since I payed not much more for my actual house.

Keep in mind the Big Dig HID a freeway, not eliminate one. What some people are advocating is removal and placing all traffic onto slower city streets.

San Fran always claimed that “tearing down the Embarcadero Freeway” was going to democratize the City. Same theory as here. OOPS.

Seriously, dude's a full-blown human dumpster fire

Whats the deal with this “peanut butter” tan bullshit. We don’t need Tan/Beige interiors. we need BROWN interiors. Every car I know that offers it, looks better with brown leather than anything else. And usually this light peanut butter shade just misses the mark.

Wait...there is a new Corvette?

Exactly. It’s a work vehicle so use it as a tool not a toy. I think a reason these may be popular for food trucks is their low floor height, meaning the vendor doesn’t have to bend over so far to serve customers.

This is why people find gearheads insufferable. Instead of actually contributing towards someone’s ability to earn a living in an industry that makes it difficult to own a brick-and-mortar storefront, money-sink/weekend hipster transportation/instagram background prop is your take (As if that’s at all original) ?

Jalopnik: Cars these days have too many screens and not enough buttons!

Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a wing on it...

I was just speaking in general terms. I’m not one of those people that say financing/leasing are bad. As long as you know what you’re doing, it’s fine. My rule of thumb is that if you can’t at least comfortably pay off the balance of your loan, you shouldn’t be buying a new car.

Nothing more American than buying a car while you’re still paying off your old one.

won’t someone think of the forgotten boomers, that hard working class that pulled up every ladder after they climbed it and told the next generation, “we got ours, tough shit for you guys.”
