Have you seen the research on what happens when women use the tactics men use to improve their salary (aggressive negotiation and pitting employers against each other)? Let’s just say it doesn’t work out favorably for women who do these things. So Hey negotiate harder... except it gets you no where and you’re branded

At what point is is abuse. My husband is really turned on by pregnant women... I guess the unborn-ness makes it acceptable kink? I mean that’s obviously involving a fetus in sexual arousal... aren’t there guys who get turned on by breastfeeding... should the mom never nurse around her (cis-hetero) partner because he

It was to get a bill passed by the House. Plain and simple: Trump’s spending bill was tied up because the most conservative members of the GOP wanted funding for gender transition services to be excluded from the bill and the GOP leaders wouldn’t cave. They went to daddy and like me after listening to my kids whine

Scapegoating doesn’t necessarily mean that he is innocent but that he was used as a pawn to show how “hard” on sexual assault Fox News is when other parties whose behavior was at least as bad were not treated like Cortes. So if the network fired him but not others, protected others but not him, or offered settlements

You can ban without criminalizing. Banning retailers from selling them would obviously make them harder to get therefore more low income people without access to other means to procure them would have a lot harder time accessing them.

Right, the battle cry yesterday that child welfare only removes horribly off kids. It just is factually untrue. The same oppressive biases that exist in society plague child welfare as well. Kids from oppressed backgrounds (parents with disabilties, parents of color, parents in poverty, parents of minority religions)

Which was not at all what I commented on. I commented on whether an IQ of 66 was more than mild, it’s not. Mild is usually the range of 50-70.

Yes, k... a lot of people with borderline IQs do have difficulty leanring new things. That doesn’t mean they are incapable of learning new things. More likely there are a few things... 1. the system has standards for curriculum for their “parent training” that doesn’t require that it be adapted for the person’s

There is actually a really good report on the removal of kids from parents with disabilities. I also generally believe that it takes a high bar to remove kids but having worked for both child welfare agencies and developmental disabilities services that bar gets lowered quite a bit when the parents have disabilities.

IQ of 66 is definitely considered mild. 70 is generally the high mark for a diagnosis (although sometimes 75 is used when there are co-occuring significant adaptive impairments).

I think we really have to be careful when we talk about “better off”. I work in the developmental disabilities field (in Oregon) and know a young woman who has a very horrible history, including child prostitution, where she was (rightly) removed from her mother, with a disability, to foster care. As soon as she could

Because curly hair. Really, brushes kill curls.

But... but... but... I do think there is value in going at cultural practices from a harm-reduction model rather than a let’s impose our idea of what is right (whether a Western-ideal or by the Nepalese government). Having community members ensure that the huts are safe will likely save more women than criminalizing

I have equal disdain for people who wear heavy perfumes... does that help? Those smells give me migraines and have since I was a child. It took me years to figure out that the reason I would get headaches and throw up at my grandparents’ house was the smoking. Since
I have I avoid it whenever possible.

Yes, This. It seems her feelings aren’t as much tied up in the ontological/dogma/doctrine trappings of religion but the rituals, rites, and shared history.

It’s the age old trouble of.... damn it’s un-feminist to say/think women shouldn’t do x, y, or z because of the risk involved and knowing that if women do x, y, or z they are putting themselves at substantial risk. I run alone at night. It’s dumb but it’s also a deliberate feminist act. When I get assaulted am I going

Except in many many many programs the recipient of services is a direct employer of the attendant. This is true of Medicaid run programs (consumer-directed model) and of private pay agreements.

But this really isn’t gender neutral either. Safety issues aside... just because it applies to all genders doesn’t make it gender neutral. Other than the safety motivations the other motivation is derived from proper attire for women to prevent the distraction/disruption to men. There is no other “defense” for these

Actually there is a fuss. The so called “gender neutral” dress codes of polos and chinos are distinctly male dress codes and if you chat with anyone about it with any real critical thinking skills at least 80% of why dress codes of any kind are implemented are to control what women wear and of that probably 80% of it

Are you serious? Epilepsy is one major area where CBD is making huge, life saving differences in people’s lives. Even if not “life saving” in the sense the person would actively die from their epilepsy within weeks or months it is life saving in that it prevents the seizures which have long term effects on brain
