I'm somewhat glad Ledisi didn't perform on the Grammys. I think a lot of the people that watch the Grammys don't have the chops to listen to someone with a voice like hers.

I had a similar experience. I didn't feel some kind of way about the word female, but I noticed when some people said that word, they said in a hateful sounding way. Then I herd a male feminist say the same thing the guy in your first post said.
