@muhnkee_2: Yeah, I just commented on this over on Gizmodo. If the acceleration is constant, he needs 350 miles, not including the braking ('chuting?) zone.

Previously, it was a toss-up between changing the clutch on my Tacoma with wheels on the ground (hey, I needed the jack to hold up the trans!) and changing the clutch on the Skyline in my friend's garage. (It's DAMN heavy, took 4 people and 2 jacks)

@dizzle84: Toyota... Civic? You're rapidly losing me here...

@cerbie: Here in Illinois, at some dealers you don't even have to wait. When I bought an STi at Carmax and opted for new plates, the metal plates were already on the car when they gave me the keys.

Oh wow, never thought I'd see "SALIVA" here... I actually took pictures of this one parked on belmont, just off clark, last winter with the intent of sending 'em in. Decided against it, stupid iphone can't take decent pics when it's dark out... *sigh* I still want it...

Stig is easily the best-spoken of the Top Gear presenters. The only communication he puts forth is the most quantifiable: numbers, in the form of lap times!

@biasply: I vote COTD on this one... Maybe because it's true, maybe because it made me laugh, maybe because it brought a tear to my eye, but whatever the reason, I still vote biasply!

Now that I think about it, building that must have been therapeutic. How many internal demons has he exorcised by giving them automotive form?

So... What about police cordoning off major city roads for legal street racing is bad? Is it because so many Jalops think all Poles are stupid? Or is it the lack of organization and "safety"?

@SeanKHotay: I was GOING to say my R32 Skyline GTR, what with the power and actual backseats, (I routinely chauffeur 2-3 people.)

Never thought I'd ever see a New Trier reference on Jalopnik... Dammit, this was my last untarnished "safe place"!

@theallpowerfulme: The WRC cars have had front mount intercoolers, true, but the scoop was still functional as an intake, (that's where the filter is.) The ones at the dealer still have top-mount i/c's.

And for some reason, I forgot to mention what directly pertained to the topic. Most kids around here view driving as an inconvenience, something to be done only when it must. They'd rather get driven by someone else, and the only willing drivers are parents. Frankly, I kind of understand. Driving conditions are

Er, I didn't get my licence 'til I was nearly 19. On the other hand, I learned to drive stick when I was 11, how to steer with the throttle at 13, and how to compensate for turbo lag at 15...

My '05 STi got 106, but my poor poor '95 Tacoma's worth -898!

I've actually been yelled at by those guys. They REALLY don't approve of my Cars-R-Coffins socks and "blow up your car and ride a bike" t-shirt as I hop out of my crappy old pickup or STi.

@LTDScott: Yes, but if you're a young MAN with a tongue stud who can do the cherry stem trick, the ladies pretty much queue up...

Why is the Maybach losing?! More importantly, why's the E39 doing so well? Nice though it is, I see far too many of them on street. Wouldn't mind driving one, but never woke up shivering in a cold sweat thinking of one...
