You're quite right, Presidential budget proposals are pretty much always subject to change...but it may be in directions that many of us won't like.

And if you prefer verbose to graphic:

Our launch vehicles (Atlas, Delta and Falcon) are adequate, we know what orbital assembly is (mostly thanks to ISS) we need new manned spacecraft for them, and they're coming...

You, sir, have indeed not been paying attention. Stay tuned...

"..how far away the moon was from Earth at that moment..."

I loved the first year or so of the 'Ships of the Line' Trek calendars...until they stopped being useful as calendars....

It could be done with the money we have, if we don't continue to pour money into the rathole that is the Space Launch System, and get away from the idea that a Moon program has to look like Apollo...

Yeah, well, once you've had green you'll never go back...

...and, well, neither do these other blue people:

Now playing

"Not Everybody Keeps Their Genitals In The Same Place, Captain."

There are also the Vela satellites designed to look for the gamma rays and other 'prompt' radiation effects that would come with trying to detonate one in deep space (though only a couple nations currently have the capacity to even try doing that).

Amen to that...

Indeed maybe not...

Just wait until extraterrestrials come into the mix..

It's just the opposite of what you say. The speed of sound is slower in thinner air, going to zero in vacuum. (where no one can hear you scream 'Geronimo!) Conversely it's faster in denser media (about 4.4 times faster in water than in sea level air)

And I'm reminded of how, in the Marvel Comics Universe, Thanos decided that this 'living outnumbering the dead' concept was an unbalanced situation. So, using the Infinity Gauntlet, he eliminated half of all life in the Universe, in order to impress the female incarnation of Death...

Granted I've never been there, but "Christian amusement park" always struck me as an oxymoron.

"...going back to the very beginnings of humanity."

"Until a tiny asteroid rips thru one of those cables and the whole thing comes apart at the seams."

'Search' doesn't necessarily mean in person or probes. We're nowhere near the end of telescope development.
