@gd01skorpius: Yet you don't say anything about what's necessary or what's lacking, that might take 'another 3000 years' (and why that figure?) to bring about.

Um, so how are we assuming the probe will be propelled?
@piero_capurro: How so? The mass of the Universe is finite., and still mostly hydrogen. But one day, new star formation will cease, and from there it's a long, slow slide to a high entropy state of nothing but an occasional photon, neutrino, electron and positron...
@Jonas: Your clone is somebody else, who just happens to be genetically identical to you (as is an identical twin), it's not you. You don't even have to die to have one. (Unless you could create a clone that had no more than enough brain stem for basic body functions, no mind or personality, and your existing brain…
I knew nothing about it until the evening news. But I remember a TV Guide article about it soon after, entitled; "The Day World War III began...And Nobody Told You"
Talk about your 'flying' fish...!
@Triffid: But it should have been Timothy Leary...
@bonniegrrl: In that case, I want my SF smooth, not chunky...

Cinderella still looks 'princess-y,' but the stellar empire kind, not the quasi-medieval kind...
@BobbinBrain: Better than the influence going the other way...
@The_Geb: Computer modeling is only as good as the models themselves, and the variables and assumptions you put in when you run them.
Logically, you can't have time travel to the past, and not change something.
Long Live Cat!
@iCurmudgeon: You have to first match velocities with this Mars-grazing object, and once you do, it doesn't matter if the asteroid is present or not...you're on the same path it is.
@Mark 2000: But he was an explorer/warrior. (1st officer, USS Saratoga, ship destroyed at Wolf 359) and knows what he's missing. IIRC, it tool Jean-Luc Picard to convince him to stay in Star Fleet and take the DS9 assignment.
@Captain_Tripps: Perhaps. But they both deal with those who are far less likable than themselves, so we don't care quite so much...
@The_Geb: The hell of it is, I thought for an instant that the title did say feces.
