I disagree, I think it would be worrying if they held off taking any action. This sends a signal that they take abuse allegations seriously, and if he’s cleared, there should be no lasting harm to his reputation, like in the case of George Takei.

Nah, in the unlikely event that he’s exonerated, rational people will judge him to be merely an incompetent, smarmy TV host and not an abuser.

It’s a bit early to say Hardwick’s career is ruined. One gig is canceled and another on hold. If he is somehow exonerated, I would assume he could quickly pick up where he left off and this would just be a minor hiccup in his long and annoying career.

That makes a lot of sense. I do try to operate from a perspective of “assume good faith,” which has led to some great conversations over the years when I’ve managed to stifle my initial assumption that someone was just trolling me.
