Speaking as someone who works at a university, it takes a whole hell of a lot to get a professor fired. I don’t think they would have done it if they weren’t absolutely positive he was guilty of gross misconduct.

There was a cop they interviewed in Maryville (maybe the sheriff?) who absolutely infuriated me, and I’m so glad he’s in the documentary, because his attitude is the exact thing we need to fight against.
So, can anyone tell me why on earth this would happen? My best guess would be that if the doc’s not there to deliver, he wouldn’t get paid for it, but that’s no reason to put two people’s lives in danger, not to mention the mental and emotional repercussions.

As a TA, I hear these kind of statements from my students a lot, but I don’t see it as a big deal. They’re just using “I feel” as a replacement for “I think.” And despite what Worthan argues, it’s not impossible to correct or build upon these statements. If I can do it with less than a year of teaching experience…
I smoked with my partner and his family over the holidays, and a little later, we went over to play with his niece and nephew. It was awesome! It’s a lot easier to let loose and be silly in that state of mind.

I was in college, and constantly worrying having to worry about the needs of a yappy, untrained little monster was an annoyance, to say the least. I couldn’t stay out late partying or sleep over at my boyfriend’s, because the dog needed…
This is such a bummer coming from Steinem. Young women aren’t into Bernie “for the boys.” They’re in it because like most millennials, they’re young and drowning in debt and want radical change.
The James Mohr book referenced above is actually very readable, if anyone’s interested. I read it last year and really enjoyed it. He gave testimony in Roe v. Wade as an expert witness.
I was required to take home ec in middle school, but I couldn’t tell you a single thing I learned from it. The teacher was evil and we spent more time on the textbook than actually doing anything useful. Likely because the school had zero funding—they actually had to shut it down just a few years after I left because…
