If anything, that would make him a bit more objective. He has personal experience with both Biden and other Democratic politicians, and unlike those politicians he can freely speak his mind. And it’s not like he’s saying something outrageous here.

“If there’s not a candidate I like, all of you can burn in a fascist hell for all I care because I don’t.”

I mean, if she’s tired of hearing people say bad things about her (no matter how justified they may be), she’s 66 and has “fuck you” money. So why not just go be a regular, old, retiree?

This is the stupidest non story of the year. Jetlagged guy with a stutter acts like jetlagged guy with a stutter during a debate with a 34-count convicted felon serial sexual predator who has declared he intends to be a dictator and replace all remaining government officials with his hand-picked cronies, and this

Biden better be doped up to the gills for this interview. Since his detractors will accuse him of it anyways, might as well, given how important this recovery is.

I don’t think the racism is supposed to be worse than murder. I think the racism is supposed to driver home how bad the murder was.

I don’t want every episode of DW to be like this. But if they are going to aim for contemporary satire or allegory with a critical eye, I’d prefer it if they swing big and miss than not try at all. And this one landed for me.

I only watched this episode once. I felt a sense of dread throughout much of it, but I was able to compartmentalize it and keep it moving. But, near the end, things got really uncomfortable because I was seeing myself in The Doctor’s shoes.

I liked it even as a non Chinese-Canadian because the pressures it describes are common to other groups (such as American Jewish).

that’s one of my favorite bits from that McCloud book

Yeah. It’s a real shame he turned out to be so sleazy and created such a hostile work environment. If he’d been a decent human being instead, Pixar would be in a better place, and so would the people he hurt.

Even Coco wasn’t quite fully cooked. It was beautiful, and so close to being great... but severely marred by using the extremely cliched villain twist that’s been in like a thousand other kids/family movies, including Pixar’s own Up (and it sucked there too). Inside Out was the last unambiguously great Pixar film.

I feel like we’re all forgetting Soul. That movie was the best of the recent batch in my opinion even if it didn’t have the guts to make some really hard story choices for its characters.

Some of the Sparkshorts they’ve produced, which mainly have been limited to Disney+, do just that. “Burrow” and “Twentysomething” are delightful 2D-look shorts, and “Self” is a combination of stop-motion and CGI that’s really striking. I don’t follow their movies anymore, but their shorts are fantastic.

Luca rules fight me.

i wouldn’t even necessarily be opposed to a modern spinoff/soft remake. might be interesting to see a toy story with a modern kid, and they have to contend with an evil ipad or fucking whatever.

i mean if the material isn’t connecting with people the material isn’t connecting with people. you can only throw 200 million dollars at the wall so many times before the guy writing the cheques asks about it.

Ok, that’s funny. I don’t want it, but it’s funny.

...what is this article? Of Pixar’s 28 films, 9 are sequels; that’s a third of ‘em. Looking at the roster, the bulk of the sequels came between 2010 and 2019 (which makes sense based on the age of the studio and the production timeline), followed by a spate of original stories whose release were hamstrung by the globa

Down.
