There are some interviews with his data team/consultants, I believe Vice or Axios did, and they knew exactly what they were doing and what signals they identified that led them to focus in specific areas.

I went from to driving to Malvern Pa to flying to Dublin every week because my client inverted and became Irish. It boosted share price, earnings and comp for management and they didn’t hesitate to move, regardless of layoffs or collateral damage.

No, 60% of Apple’s revenue comes from international sales. They are not an American company.

Good references. I worked for 3 consulting companies, two of which had large tax/accounting arms and designing and setting up the ops and systems part of these structures was a large part of my job for a while. “We’re Not Broke” on Netflix gives the most detailed explanation of how things like “inversion,” transfer

No. I also don’t believe Apple or most of these companies are American either. They are operating globally and should be treated as multi-national companies. The US should have long ago moved to a territorial tax system and brought its corporate rate in-line with the rest of the world.

Where it matters for their tax obligations, yes, they are an Irish entity.

I voted for Johnson because my vote didn’t matter. I didn’t like either candidate and would like a third party to emerge that is socially liberal and fiscally more conservative.

My sense is that they did analysis and if the voters in Portland are younger, there is a chance that while they hate Trump, they don’t vote. Many of those Orange County types may loathe him personally but a subset will also vote with their wallet (if he faces Warren, Sanders or someone who will push for much higher

I do and you would too if you actually knew how to read a 10K

Exactly, go down the list of the most profitable companies be it tech companies like Apple or pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer and they have virtually all relocated or inverted to low tax jurisdictions like Ireland, UK, Switzerland, etc. Factor in transfer pricing through places like Puerto Rico and Bermuda and

The point isn’t wrong though. Republicans do seem to beat the Dems on messaging and strategy. Republicans have only won 1 popular vote since 2000 yet have won 3/5 presidential elections. If they can’t execute at the federal level, the go to plan B and C and execute at the state level, find ways to defund initiatives

Why do you think is analytics team was incompetent? They were largely proven to be correct. Just looking at their data strategy and the stats behind it, their approach to get to 270 made sense. Trump wasn’t a conventional Republican and they clearly had better polling and data analysis than the DNC.

I may be a goon but I actually seem to understand that while Apple may have billions in cash, most of that money consolidated in places like Ireland. The money isn’t actually American money or subject to American taxation.

Booker was a tight end on Stanford’s team, so definitely an athlete. Moutlon played football but his coming out of Andover, I feel like Booker has the edge coming out of Neward.

He has name recognition though I think he has a better chance to win Ohio than all but 4-5 in the field, same with Pa, and if the Dems want to win the election, those are two mandatory state wins. Wasn’t Biden the poorest Senator for most of his career?

When you break down the total income and wealth per person, across 300M people, we are not the wealthiest country in the world.

While again, lovely idea, that isn’t a binding treaty. This is also a construct in large part of what is “adequate” and the ability to support this is dependent on what a government is able to provide.

Perhaps, but it seems to be the general publics issue too because this right to obtain healthcare, free of charge, isn’t legally enshrined anywhere in this country.

In an ideal world I would agree with you, my issue is that I don’t see a basic human right as being something that others need to give you at potentially great expense.

Well Brett is Yale Alum and Chua and her Husband are both Yale Law professors. The letter I am sure is nice but seems like connections and potential good old fashioned nepotism could explain this as well.
