Sure, that is true and it is possible but that doesn’t make it probable.

Was it excessive? I am genuinely asking.
Isn’t that what he is doing? He is calling her a liar, saying that she tried to extort him, and then providing explicit evidence that they had a previous sexual relationship. If it is his word against hers, and if he is telling the truth, what other avenue does he have than to attack her character and credibility?
What is the difference between religion and organized power & corruption?
The pope isn’t always infallible, only in specific circumstance is the pope infallible in the eyes of the church. I don’t disagree with your position but the pope himself is a large part of the problem. He may be better than his predecessor but it is a low bar.
I would say the catholic church in terms of scandal is far worse than evangellicals. The terrible things from the evangellicals are typically done in plain sight. If you look outside of the US at other religions, there are far worse practices going on. Religion tends to be a basket of deplorable ideas and practices.
If he is telling the truth and it was consensual, then what other defense is there other than to attack her credibility and show a history of a consensual sexual relationship?
Or maybe we can wait and see what they actually put forward as legislation before declaring it a waste or utterly hopeless?
I’ve worked as a union worker at UPS early on and now I am in management for a company. I’m from a union family so I’ve always kind of looked at unions as just a tool or instrument for negotiation in a free market. If labor can align and build leverage to negotiate, then they should.
I hear her pander with statements like “break up big tech” which maybe sounds good, but doesn’t actually address any of the specific problems and comes with it a host of integration and national security issues as one example. So on some issues like consumer protections, I applaud her efforts but in lots of other…
She is already in the hole against Trump. Trump is a troll and the Pocohantas thing was already out there, she released the results and it just confirmed what Trump accused her of. She doesn’t seem to have much of a sense of humor or be able to roll with something like this. She will attack Trump’s integrity and this…
I don’t know what Gillibrand has done of note. My issue with her approach on Al Franken was the hypocrisy from Gillibrand. It felt like a political move to go after Franken when she benefited from early support and gaining notoriety with support from Bill Clinton.
That is what I mean. So then do you make it harder to buy a home if someone is on a greencard trying to become a citizen? This would create additional challenges for immigrants.
It is more specifically an issue in cities like Seattle where there is a short supply and all cash buyers do come in and that will drive up prices. This is why Vancouver is the most expensive city in North America. These cities are closer to Asia and faster to get to. They also happen to be desirable international…
If you are poor in the United States, you are likely already in the global 1%. I’ve spent a fair amount of time in India and South Africa, and the poverty and social services here, versus there, isn’t even remotely on the same page. In our worst cities, you don’t see children in trash dumps avoiding attacks from…
Post WW2 the US was basically the lone economic power with its manufacturing base left standing. China, Japan, Brazil, Germany, India and lots of other countries have caught up and are economic players now in the global economy and automation is eliminating jobs.
When I moved to Seattle, the neighborhood I was in had signs everywhere that said “Keep Ballard, Ballard” meaning down destroy the housing character of the community by building up high density housing. The city council is all Democrats and a Socialist. You can maintain the character of neighborhoods or you can have…
Problem is the federal prohibition. Even if the state legalizes it, it is technically still illegal. In Washington most companies don’t seem to be going this route but legally they are within their right to. Factor in that banks, mortgage lenders and other don’t want to take the money, and the federal law still…
I think it is a real problem, I just think that any solution is likely to either have an easy workaround or create as many problems as it solves. For foreign investors, some kind of capital patriation could be required but my sense is that a banking entity would simply enable the investor to bypass this on credit for…
I moved to Seattle a few years ago and bought a small townhouse. The place next to me is owned by an LLC and has mainly been unoccupied. It isn’t something I routinely see in stand alone houses that need upkeep and maintenance but housing that can be left alone, it seems fairly common.
