Newer car discovery - the passenger seat in my ‘16 ATS coupe identifies anything metallic left on the seat as a “passenger” no matter how lightweight. Cell phones, keys, etc all turn on the seat belt light, heated seats, etc.

As noted by other’s below, the insinuation that GM is creating and proposing this restrictive model on Tesla is simply incorrect. The rules that prevent direct-sales are not GM’s choice.
