The killer may be someone who is found loitering with intent in the vicinity of the person you describe, e.g. an over-solicitous son who 'doesn't want Pops to be too distressed' or a corporate lawyer who insists on sitting in on the interview then jumps in when the patsy is about to inadvertently give the game away.
The drifter theory is certainly given credence by the episode where Adam knew that a character had gone to a certain motel to take their own life. Something you'd expect a down-on-their-luck drug-addled hobo to know. A scion of Manhattan high society? Not so much.

Richard Belzer can currently be seen reprising the role of John Munch in adverts for Ice-T fish sticks and frozen peas.
You know you're on a winner in Random Roles when they say a particular role was a piece of crap.
You're not looking at James Woods though.
"I never met [James Garner] but never heard one bad thing from anyone who did. And you know this town – ten people will tell you Mother Teresa was a nightmare." So said Ken Levine (http://kenlevine.blogspot.i…, and it looks like Gerald McRaney agrees.
"I see splitsville for Delta Burke and Major Dad."
It was Cookie Monster, right?
