You mentioning the slingshot effect just made me realize something. Spock made a considerable note in The Naked Time about how that whole time travel thing was a big deal. How the heck does that reconcile with all the time travel stuff that’s been going on that Spock has been on the know on? 

Just an update on this I’ve since been informed that the hacking wasn’t originally part of Daisy’s repertoire in the comics. The closest connection to that is that her look was based on Angelina Jolie in the film Hackers. Still I guess it’s a handy skill to have.

DS9's finale was solid but the Pah Wraith stuff was kind of weak and there was some weird things going on structurally. I’d probably have TNG’s All Good Things rather than that one tbh.

Agreed. That’s definitely one of my favourite series finales at this point. Really glad that it got to happen (guess we’ll see if the movie does).

In hindsight it holds up as one of the best. You just kind of have to dwell on the actual ending itself a little bit to understand why it was the way it was.

Yeah SFDebris had a notable rant on that in The Swarm review I believe. I mean just cause that was dumb doesn’t excuse this bit of dumb.

They’ve already said that Pike won’t be back for the next season. I guess that’s not altogether unexpected but it’s still bittersweet.

Forgot they had that in that episode. Still doesn’t make it any less dumb tho.

I think for Joe, Robert, Ahni, Lyndsay at least those was there only appearances so us getting details about their lives before they died made some sense. Also it’s not like a good chunk of Naked Time, Balance of Terror, Latent Image, was even about those respective characters specifically, really they were more…

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Thought all of this could have been accomplished with a mind meld. And like if you’re gonna go to Talos maybe doing more illusions than a black hole and some duplicates of Spock and Michael would have been called for.

In either case Anson is probably the best thing in the show right now. Was just thinking about this and honestly they could have just had him be a whole new character and that probably would have worked just as well.

Yeah your idea of them needing to get past their anger so they could see the vision would have made way more sense. Granted they kind of did something similar in S1 with Burnham and Sarek but it still made more sense than this.

I got spoiled for that in advance. Though it might be that they were involved with the Red Angel or Pike was gonna have a flashback or something (I guess those are slightly less dumb) but honestly the fact that we’re going down this route with all the other fan service we’ve had so far is just ridiculous.
