This is hoping the launch goes the same way the 4S did, no major shortages. Apple as always requires first come first served sales process for their device launches. I have been on those lists before and basically if they received 100 phones and you are #101 on the line you wont get one even if you are #1 on the list.

There is no advantage, in fact its smoother to do it in the apple store. Even when there are hickups in the process Apple tends to fix them in a more elegant way than AT&T. I've gone through both channels and every time I have done the upgrade in AT&T it is a long and painful process.
