That would be overpowered and annoying compared to the hilarity of watching your foe chase the goose after it stole the hammer right out of their hands. If you want to make it worse make it so that the goose can grab and drop the smash ball off the stage so everyone will will have to chase after it.

Better Idea: Put the Goose in Smash - as an assist trophy; summon the goose and he’ll go around stealing items off of your opponents and they’ll have to catch him before he drops the item off the stage. You’re welcome.
