Agreed, corner step is the best solution. Cheap and integrated with no moving parts. In the corner out of the way as well. GM did good on that.

Corner steps ftw.
I honestly think the corner step GM currently has is the best solution. It has no moving parts, is easy and convenient location and doesn’t require the gate to be down or use the gate which may have something on it already. It’s also a very cheap solution to just add into the bumper. The bed side also has a…
I actually thought Chevy’s CornerStep solution was better, anyway. They shouldn’t waste the time and money on the the little bed-ladder thing.
I’m hoping to upgrade soon. The bumper steps will be fine for me.
IMO Tailgate steps are kinda dumb regardless of who makes them (except for people who maybe have some type of a disability or something). The Ford version is really just designed to pinch fingers and cause cursing.
The first gen of these was rough. It left a massive lump in the tailgate that was not conducive to sliding in heavy objects.
Still looks like a poor ripoff of the Tacoma.
Seriously is this a ford fanboy site?
Such a great name for ‘customising’: Anger, Banger, Clanger, Danger, Fanger, Ganger, Hanger, etc. & Isn’t a ‘Ranger’ a redheaded child anyway? Oh dear, they didn’t do their homework - again.
Ugh stop milking this stupid world ranger non-story. BORING
Not to mention the Toyota has the brand and perceived/real reliability behind it, it’s offered in a 6 speed manual still, and I believe has the best residual value of them all.
I was seriously about to say the same thing. Now- for marketing reasons and name recognition I get that Ford wanted to call this the Ranger. But this is so far removed from the old Ranger it has nothing to do with it in any shape or fashion.
It’s FORD year here on Jalopnik!
Yeah. I don’t get it. An interested buyer could go out RIGHT NOW and buy a truck with comparable or better specifications.
We get it, you drove a 2016 Ranger in a parking lot. Why not scoot down to Mexico and really drive it?
Why so enamored with that when Toyota, Nissan and GM have been offering similar trucks for years ?
Jalopnik brought to you by the letters
Alright guys we get it, you drove a ranger. You’re starting to look #desperate...
Watch me have sour grapes. I bet that truck is ugly in person and makes your sexy-parts smaller.
