Prison is not called slavery, but for some gee golly reason, you are far more likely to wind up there if you are black. They can't legally enslave you, but they can make a system so you are still owned by somebody. Its never ended in some respects.

I think one thing we can say is that North America was an awful place if you were born the wrong skin color or nationality way back in the day. It still is for different reasons, and the one that has persisted, is treatment of people of color (who remain in slave like positions in an entirely different context).
Fishheads, fishheads, buckets of fish heads...
I mean, with the fact that for generations people in the scientific community argued that Egyptians were lighter than they actually were because they figured dark-skinned people were incapable of that kind of advancement, I wouldn’t put a secret matriarchal society past them.
Jet Fuel doesn't melt steel beams. The patriarchy does.
There’s also evidence that Egypt was run by the ladies. Menfolk were just used for breeding and work and there was an uncle system rather than fathers and the whole sibling marriage thing was just made up to cover up all this. How true this is, I don't know, but it is interesting.
Didn't Indiana jones land in a pit of snakes in that movie? Snakes eat rats...and rats eat grain. OH MY GOD!
At least he got to experience a brief moment of freedom, which is a lot more than other whales in his position get (not justifying what happened to him AT ALL. Just saying its good he got to experience the wild before he died). A lot of us were introduced as children to the plight of Orca’s via Free Willy, and…
That's insane.
I'm sorry, pod. Any killer whales out here, I'm sorry.
Its so archaic and just plain stupid that SeaWorld could ever possibly think they could keep giant marine animals in captivity like this. Like something out of the 19th century.
I always heard pneumonia. I know he had serious issues adjusting to being in the wild and couldn't find a pack, but damn.
They starved Keiko to death?
If seaworld really wants to make money and not hurt whales, they could always buy up boats and do whale watching tours. Are those problematic?
I truly believe that many people enter into relationships to either save someone or be saved.
My bestfriend "counts" her number and I told her its the sexual equivalent of keeping tabs on how many restaurants you visit.
Boyfriends friend: And then she done told me she slept with only 4 men, and I did the math, and she was lyin’.
And encouraging a librarian to burn a book is probably part of a blog series he/she is writing about you right now.
Hill was much too busy with her real estate investments in the 1980s to be bothered with a silly gay disease.
Well at least now we can start a national conversation about how the Reagans gave no fucks whatsoever about Aids until public pressure forced them to, something I bring up every DAMN time someone tries to be all Praise Gippers.
