I do have a strange fondness for "Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd". Just such a goofy thing to come up with. Agreed that he's the height of banality, though.

Kaleidoscope Funk Network! A gem written by the late Harris Wittels.

Are you suggesting that Age of Adz is a bad album? Because that's just crazy talk.

"Love From New York, I Did Saturdays Right!"

Inside Llewyn Davis was released in 2013, so filmed even earlier than that. Time flies like an arrow…

You failed to mention Vanity Fair.

I think this season's writing team is pretty smart. They realize Trump is watching, and paint in strokes just broad enough so that he'll get the message.

Oh man, I think he would've been so perfect as Django. Don't get me wrong, Jamie Foxx is great in that role. But Big Willy Style would've been so subversively excellent…

Unfortunately, that's the heart of the matter right there. Nobody wants to be obligated to feel shame. Nobody wants to be obligated to do anything in 'MURCA. And admonishing Middle America for holding "unenlightened" opinions only fuels the resentment.

That exists and it's called Twitter.

Colt 45: You're drinking it wrong.

For me, it was: "…named for the documentary he produced about a tragic whale without any mooching friends…". Immediately checked the byline.

The DJ he bribes is named KP. That, plus the skateboarding, made me think of the super un-PC Derrick Comedy sketch. "Heyy KP!"

Isn't that what 'Muppets Tonight' basically did?

I don't know if 'Joan Baez roadie' counts as a profession…

Oh jeez. So TL;DR is basically "WOOSH", as the whole thing went sailing over my head. Many thanks for your patient & diligent response laying this out for me, especially considering I should've googled before opening my gob here.

Is there any explanation of how the original crew relates to the new one, other than the obvious one-to-one analog? It's certainly a touching moment, but it hurt my brain that this wouldn't compute. I don't remember much from the first 2 new Treks and I'm more or less a ST noob (seen the TOS films and random eps).

I was mistaken - I'm usually not the first in on these things, so figured if I DL'd it, anyone could. Luckily I can still access the tracks through the app, but I see that it's no longer available on the site.
And yes, I think the bigger point is that anyone who is remotely interested in music doesn't place much cache

Thanks for the explanation. I must've downloaded when it was briefly available, and for whatever reason I still have it available to listen to on my phone. My mistake, I now see that it's no longer searchable.
