I second that!

@Dangger: Get the firefox extension 'SkipScreen'. It can be a little odd at times, but works great!

@Lisa Goddard: Be sure that your information is entered as follows (as Gmails automatic settings don't work for Hotmail's POP3):

As someone who deals with a number of computers and their users I've had my share of most of the above apps. Lately though I've been connecting using TeamViewer to connect to my Mac/Windows friends/clients from my Ubuntu system. Of course I use Wine to make it work, but it's easy and still pretty responsive!

I am actually on my original 701 series ASUS Eee PC right now. I've had it for almost one year now. If I didn't have it, I'd totally pick one of the upcoming $200 models up in the new year. It's a fantastic machine that has all the features I need whether I'm at home or on the road.

I used to work for a very popular computer shop in downtown Toronto. We had a lot of customers that would comment on the price of Windows and other software after spending $500 to $1,000 (and often more) on their brand new PC. Many of them found that the cost of Windows and any additional software was pretty close to,

Also, if you like a GUI, you can download q7z. Works on Linux and is easy to install and use!

@Kylotan: I won't cite any direct sources, but I will say that learning a little Java and modifying existing scripts like InYoF4cebook (from userscripts.org) will do the trick.

Let's also keep in mind that even with this set up, you can easily access a user's information using a few java scripts maliciously. Facebook has next to no protection to user information. I have had greasemonkey scripts in the past that work past all the so-called "Privacy Settings" that Facebook has set up.

PS. I have run Vista Basic and Premium as well as Ultimate. The only one I have yet to try is Vista Business. So, yes, I am speaking from personal experience!

All I can say is that I do IT services and so far every single one of my clients has requested that I install XP on all of their new machines that have come with Vista. It doesn't stop there though. Most of them also request to stick with Office 2003 instead of Office 2007. They all agree that the interface is too

I use my Eee PC and my cell phone. I just wish I could use my cell phone as a modem, but my phone doesn't have that capability...time for an upgrade soon...

I had all my bills go paperless a year or so ago. Now I get my monthly statements via e-mail. I make sure that all flyers are sent elsewhere. If I want deals, I've got the web. I keep out of magazine and newspaper subscriptions by using online RSS feeds and looking for the news I want to hear. The only paper I ever

I haven't owned a watch in at least 6 years. I've even kept old pre-paid phones with no minutes on them just to tell the time. The only real benefit is that when driving in the summer, you don't get that tan-line on your wrist from the sun's rays pouring in through your windsheild!

I just use the XP PowerToy found here. It allows you to select your image(s) and resize them via the right-click menu. Small file size, and easy to use and configure.

Similar options also work for most iPods. For example when I get a new iPod I do the following:

If you're comfortable with modifying the code you can achieve a dual-calendar view like this.
