I don't get the hate for iTunes, first of all you don't need it to set up, back up and purchase apps anymore. As for music-well the on killer feature that will keep me tethered to iTunes are smartplaylists. I worked a lot setting them up and have never seen another player that has them. Wow yet another person in this dicussion to have the point fly over their heads-as if android/blacberry/feature phones users aren't as stuck in the techno-matrix as iphone users. Hell all of us typing here are just as dependent on technology even if we don't have smartphones.

Well I agree with some of these but gotta ask do itunes smart playlists work with the music app replacements suggested? Since that's the main reason I use it.

Wow you want to ditch the iphone for one feature that will likely improve in the future and for which there are many good (and free) alternatives? I'm also sure google will make an ios app for their maps, they already have google earth for example.

I don't get it, listing to music on my iphone uses the least battery-well assuming it's locally stored and not streaming. What are you people doing to kill the battery on music?
