I never played it growing up, but this reminds me of how Fallout 2 had its traditional RPG character classes re-framed for the setting, becoming more unique as a result. Like your healer/buff supplying character was a drug dealer, and your damage dealer was a bar owner.

I think the reason they avoided it for so long is because it was the song everyone expected the band to play. If it was early on and they didn’t *nail it* then the franchise would have likely faded into obscurity.

I love how deep this game gets without being overwhelming. Even in huge skrums at the end of a game, I never feel like I don’t know why I failed or why I succeeded.

I wish you hadn’t said anything... Now I need to say I like this thing and champion it everywhere I go because I base my entire personality around contradicting opinion pieces on websites. 😠

This sucks, man.

I remember pointing to the ludicrous nature of the Armstrong “make american great again” scene in 2016 and everyone ignoring me....

I think part of it is people’s propensity for get-rich-quick schemes coupled with the thinking that any part they don’t understand is “handled by computers”

So its gullibility coupled with tech illiteracy.

The fascinating thing about Chappelle in this case for me is that his first response was to make a trans joke.

Can’t be much, its a boutique business.

OH SHIT OH SHIT YOU GOTTUM YOU GOTTUM THEY’RE DUN THEY’RE FUCKING DONE!!!!111

I’m sure he’d spin it as “being like Red Faction!!!” and his cult would “yes, and...” it as being a good thing.

The concern is that if you let this shit slide, eventually the 24-hour news cycle ignores his stupidity until he does something dangerous or catastrophic and it turns into “How come no one ever talked about this guy???! How come no one ever saw this coming??!”

Normally, I would bulk at dragging someone for how they play a video game. But in the case of a blow-hard capitalist who surrounds himself with sycophants, claims to have created technology he purchased, and bought a social media platform for the sake of feeding his ego; I’ll start the car.

I remember when Infinite Warfare came out and that got outsold by Battlefield One that publishers were saying that futuristic settings for shooters were old news and that people crave a historical setting for shooters....

And it influenced a lot of Japanese pop culture in the 80s, which in turn led to those cultural exports coming to the West and influencing Western pop culture like some weird, neon Ouroboros

The concept can work for a narrative. Burn the Orphanage proved that

Also not a bad idea!

That would be poetic, considering the games are basically licensed fan-fiction sequels to the books.

Not too long ago they were calling Guardians of the Galaxy a failure...
