While I did like the obfuscated way that Destiny would tell its story before (first-hand accounts taken from lore cards attached to in-game items that combined told the whole story) I really like how now they’re focusing more on character interactions and presenting major events in the first-person (Irony!)

I like long videos on YouTube while I work and found this one. It goes into a *lot* of the backstory if that’s what you want, but honestly I think you’re okay just starting from this expansion and going from there.

The bit of animation of the character switching exo suits made me nostalgic for Centurions.

the silhouette looks like the usual Varia suit, but I was kinda hoping that after Dread we’d get games set after Super Metroid. I feel we’ve tread that area enough and want to move on to whatever else that galaxy has to hold.

Job security here at ABK rests with our ability to produce epic entertainment for our fans.

I gotta wonder if it’s like the Jim Henson Creature Workshop where the materials degrade over time. Like how the original live-action TMNT suits now look like cadavers.

I know right.

I could see this working if only because of the version of Wily and Light that The Protomen have featured in their music/artbooks.

Satire is dead.

Isn’t Ciaphas Cain basically Harry Flashman?

And that is a good idea, but that’s not the foot that GW puts forward as it tries to break into the mainstream. Their biggest attempts at blockbuster stories have been focused on the Space Marines and their fights against twisted monstrosities that make them look literally angelic by comparison.

I mean, I know what you’re saying, but the Imperium gets the lion’s share of the mechanical attention, and more importantly, the promotional art for most of the franchise has the fascists look like this

I’m afraid part of the problem is that they want to build out their franchise, and the only way they can think of doing that is to create a hero narrative, which does requires a line in the sand of good an evil, even if it is just showing some forces as the protagonist and others as antagonists.

It should be noted that they have mobile phones in Boruto but still no guns.

Boy, it sure is hard to keep politics out of a game about international conflict, huh?/s

I hate Kinja because it doesn’t make it clear who you’re replying to...

A concern I have as we move away from WWII is that we lose more of the people who were alive for it.

FUCK! Now how can I empirically backup my bigotries regarding nostalgic properties?!!!1 /s

Devastation had no right being as good as it was. Especially considering how Legend of Korra and Ninja Turtles from them turned out.
