Googled the actress who plays Beth.  I guessed 19 and my wife guessed 15.  She is 27. 

Just read your post.  We are thinking along the same lines.  I told my wife a couple of weeks ago that a great final shot of the series would be Hannah walking into a cubicle, her first day at work, at a publishing company, or something along those lines.
