If you get Pokemon Showdown shutdown because of this stupid shit, I’m never reading another Kotaku article.

Problem is that in the US anyway, you need to protect you trademarks in order to keep them. If Nintendo sees this as beneficial the best thing to do would be to offer a free, and narrowly scoped license, but it’s often easier for companies just to shut things down.

If Nintendo’s lawyers have never heard of Pokémon showdown by now, they either live under a rock, or have been utterly incompetent for the past 10 years.

The child wants a future, regardless of politics. There is literally no downside to a cleaner future other than monetary costs, which are in almost every case offset in the long-term.

I am fairly certain that twitch makes a ton of money for amazon. Unless you are a top top streamer the money you make directly via twitch is from ad-revenue, subscriptions and bits, and twitch takes a cut from all of that. They don’t actually pay 99.99% of streamers anything.

At some point soon, Amazon will want some type of return. Then just like YouTube, the Gold Rush will be over and only a few streamers will be left, along with the corporations.
