Yeah, this is where I am with it. Maybe the way the sentiment was expressed is upsetting because of the congratulatory connotation, but the fact is that we’re fascinated by people who commit atrocities (small or large) because they defy social norms - “living life on their own terms,” in other words. Morris definitely

Fascism and fascinating do have the same Latin root.

My question is, why would you want to try sympathize with a person like Morris?

Hey man, you live your life, let the monsters live their lives.#hatersgonnahate (sarcasm in case that is not obvious)

Amen brother.

Because race cars. Duh.

Agreed. It’s going to be just like the Colorado. By the time you give it 4WD and enough options to make it “comfy” but not “loaded” it’s going to be $3,000 away from a base model Silverado, and it’s almost as damn big and probably not leaps and bounds better in Fuel Economy. If I’m going to spend $30,000, I’d look

As a kid in Texas I felt kinda drawn to Australia too... weird

Yes, these cars handle a lot. The rear subframe and suspension share a lot with the 300ZX and Skylines of the same vintage. Just need to upgrade the brakes and suspension to support the power mods (as you would with any car). Agreed, CP for someone else’s show/project car. $15k might be fair to the right buyer though.

That’s the beauty of removing the doors and hatch. It lets the car breathe.

Not if you buy it back and then remember why you got rid of it in the first place.

It’s “resale” when discussing residual market value after a period of time (i.e., the second-sale price).

Don’t believe everything your car salesman tells you. I mean I know we’re an honest bunch, but occasionally we get a few bad apples in there.

Yeah to the “pricing mistakes” take. Honda blew it on the Civic, in particular—or, maybe I’m the only one who thinks so.

Generally not a fan of custom job creators thinking their vehicle is worth the money they sunk into it... as it usually isnt. This custom configuration is also a bit high on the asking price but appears much nicer than many others posted in the past.... Agree with your post, a slim NP but not for me.

It’s crazy how those little vents on the floor could reach thermonuclear temps, but could never quite translate into heating the car evenly, never mind defrosting the windshield. Is it the complete lack of insulation in old Beetles? the weakness of the fan?

Don’t forget about your ankles burning from the heat if you have on low cut socks. That was one thing I HATED about owning a Beetle.

The levers near the parking brake are the heater controls - in an aircooled VW, heat comes from a fan blowing air over the exhaust manifolds, and then into the cabin. The levers open flaps in the “heater boxes” to control how hot it is.

I flew out to San Francisco for my cousin’s wedding in September and thought it’d be cool to get a Mustang convertible and drive up and down Big Sur while I was there until literally every 5th person on highway 1 had the same fucking idea.
