I like her (Shawkat). I read this last night and she comes off as a thoughful person trying to make nuanced points about this stuff, which is what we need.

Minimize Jeffrey Tambor’s role(s) in the show and.. meh. But take away Lucille Bluth and Maeby from the show and you lost me as a viewer. They’re easily my two favorite characters.

Given the shitshow she had to deal with I can see why she wasn’t bringing her a-game. Part of the reason Arrested worked in the past was because the cast was clearly having a lot of fun, and I’m not sure that’s true anymore.

Side note: I think part of my disappointment with the fifth season is how tame all of Lucille’s dialogue is. It seems like Walters’ voice wasn’t 100%, but I have no idea why she was given such garbage lines. The only real Lucille line isn’t even actually delivered by her, just recounted by others.
