Counterpoint: why do I have to give up my very limited footroom with my backpack because everyone feels the need to carry on these MONSTER roller bags?  Gate check the damn thing, it’s usually free.

The best thing that could happen for every single one of Elmo's companies is for him to bite the dust. Because he's never going to shut up.

you and your family are also not special, and you will also survive. Sorry others don’t feel a burning desire to inconvenience themselves for your benefit. Pay to sit next to each other

Fuck Musk, the sooner that POS fades into history, the better.

At baggage claim.... if everyone would just take five steps back, claiming luggage would be MUCH more efficient.

“But if car prices are no longer based on supply and demand, rather a pure desire for profit from carmakers, the value of the dollar isn’t really changing. The people taking those dollars from you have just gotten greedier.”

The manager tried to retort by saying, “Well, when I go to Chipotle and order a burrito, they charge me extra for the guacamole.”

I Love Alpha Romero, such a storied Italian marque

Thank God I won’t be able to purchase the production version of this, but I will be able to pay $108,000 for a Dodge pickup truck that will perpetually try to kill me and everyone else around me.

Silly Alex W.  You should know by now that nobody reads the article and just rages on the headline.

You can see FRED in action in with what is by far the jauntiest free music ever to grace a 1:30 of a traffic light in action

The few sovereign citizens I have met share a common trait. The unearned confidence of an imbecile.

That’s not a street takeover, that’s a riot.

Yes. Waymos drive through my neighborhood and all I can think is how they spent Waymo than they should have on their test mules.

My mother drives around looking for a “good space.” She doesn’t want to walk too far. Then she browses every fucking aisle of the store likely exceeding a mile.

Eh forcing everyone to sub-meter those home chargers wouldn’t fly. It would only work with public meters, which are not used nearly as much as home chargers (for now). Charging yearly by milage and weight simplifies the tax revenue, makes it easier to keep up with inflation, and puts EVs and ice on a level playing

(which are, BTW, MUCH heavier than their counterpart ICE models and thus likely to MORE damage do the road)

I think the cost they came up with is the interesting part, not the concept. If you bought a new light duty truck from the Big 3 with a V8 and did only city miles (lowest I saw was 15mpg for non Raptor/trx) at the US DOT average miles driven per year of 13,476; you would pay $180 in road tax to Texas. The charge for

If you use the US DOT average miles driven per year of 13,476 that means basically everything short of a V8 Raptor or Ram TRX will cost less in road tax than an EV in Texas. If you bought a regular Civic and just did highway miles you would only pay $67 in road fuel tax.  EV owners are getting screwed.

Next legislative session - EV drivers are prohibited from carrying guns for ‘safety reasons’. EVs are restricted to the right lane of all highways. EVs must carry a sticker reading ‘My same-sex partner and I hate Texas’.
