This.

Not too surprising. Everything is CAN-based these days, and everything has a standardized PGN (at least that’s what it’s called in the marine industry, with which I’m more familiar). It’s just reading CAN messages off the bus and updating the display accordingly.

Agreed with testing. Where I think you’ll disagree is that I think the consequences for bad driving behavior should be draconian.

You interpreted “jollies” as condescending. That’s on you, man. I freely admit I get my jollies on my motorcycle on twist backroads! Nothing wrong with jollies.

Wow, you’re a real classy guy.

Interesting. I don’t have a car with multi-driver settings, but there have been times where I’ve been driving and my wife gets out of the car before I pull in to the carport and I get a “No key detected”. I figure it has locked on to her fob for some reason. I suppose cars with driver settings might have a better and

Got a question for you: when two drivers get in the car, and both have their fobs with them, how does the car decide which memory setting to use?

Looks to me like this clown had his finger on the trigger guard. As far as I can tell, the only non-dumb thing he did in this entire video.

He’s Secretary of Transportation, not Secretary of Global Supply Chain. This is exactly the kind of stuff he should be working on.

You figure it won’t solve the problem because you’ve determined that the problem is poorly trained drivers. But you’re wrong.

The point is to stop designing urban roads like a freeway. Keep your undies on, it’s not about redesigning the interstates or the rural highways you get your jollies on.

The safety improvement of better asphalt is probably a rounding error on the crash and fatality rates.

It’s a bunch of clowns jealous that we don’t have our own Trump to incite an insurrection.

Lol, I did say start, didn’t I? ;)

I don’t mean they’ll wait until capacity exceeds demand to start working on new products. But -- and this is a big but given Elon -- they likely have a product development roadmap and I’d suspect a low-cost, low-margin entry level EV is a ways down the list.

Tesla earnings calls are almost entirely Elon “baffling with bullshit” to obfuscate the fact that the stock is hugely overvalued. Tesla’s record profits and sales are representative of a mid-tier auto manufacturer with a P/E value probably 1/50th of Tesla’s. (I’m pulling numbers outta my ass, don’t @ me).

Correction: they have no interest in selling a cheap car as long as their production capacity is maxed out making more expensive (and profitable) cars.

Parking lights. I’ve owned and driven cars for [checks date] 34.6 years now, and in that time I have never — not even once — intentionally turned the parking lights on. Why the f*ck are they even there?

Except you’ll be able to sell that $300 bike for $150 when the kids outgrow it. Meanwhile, the Huffy is such a piece of shit they’ll ride it twice, then think “Man, riding a bike sucks!” Then it’ll sit collecting rust for seven years until you finally take it to the dump.

Big bike fan here, and always like talking bikes, but does this really belong on Jalopnik?
