It annoyed me that they used the term "serial killer" because it wasn't a phrase until the 70s. They should have called the killings "stranger murders."

I think some (or all) the deviations probably came from the show's creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. I'm not going to rule this out because I've been very impressed with where he took Archie concepts in his Sabrina and Afterlife With Archie comics.

I remember how the smallest kid in 5th grade bought a Washington Redskins Starter Jacket because it was the only one he could find that would fit him. He wasn't really a fan (this was in the South) but he had to have a Starter. He got made fun of pretty bad.
