It basically comes off as “We’re doing our jobs putting down thugs, and now you’re whining about crime after forcing us to back off.”

Let me get this straight. Numerous citizens watching LEOs as they do their job is somehow “the people screwing the department”?
You have no idea what Illinois v. Wardlow actually determined, or why it’s not terribly relevant to the arrest, and yet you continue to clog this article with comments about it.
I don’t recognize this type of feminism. What the hell happened?
Clearly you have no idea what “doing their job PROPERLY” means? They killed a man for no reasons. That is not proper and they belong in jail.
I would imagine if the cops could somehow go a couple of weeks without beating the shit out of or killing people, most of the folks swarming them with cameras would get bored and go away. The fact of the matter is that cops have made it so bad that the only time people feel safe is when they have a dozen cameras on…
Me too. I was brought up as a second-wave feminist, so at 34 I am finding the current iteration of feminism to be frustrating.
exactly right, a load of crap. As if there is no middle ground, what nonsense and whining. Finally getting a real grand jury to take it to trial at least and they want to take their ball and go home. Unreal and when they get back to doing their job the “right” way they will be back in the mess they left, only possibly…
I mentioned this to you earlier today, Natasha, but over the past year, I’ve found the public face of the movement to grow more and more divorced from what it seems society needs feminism to be doing. In one corner, we have pandering celebrities who have tapped into the lucrative Tumblr activist demographic by…
You keep banging that severed spine of a drum. There’s no feeling left but you’ll get some plus-ones from the people who think a badge and a gun is license to dispense the death penalty.
You are conflating the act of stopping soneone who runs from the police (the Illinois v Wardlow cite), which IS permissible, with what happened after the arrest. That precedent permitted a legal investigative SEARCH upon seeing someone fleeing. It did not permit the arrest simply based upon flight, and it certainly…
Yep.
Every time I see one of these articles where they interview cops, it’s always “wahh I can’t do my job now because I might be held accountable for something.”
I know it’s new and scary to be held accountable for your jobs, cops, but you’ll get used to it like the rest of us.
uhhh, no. The cops killed Gray, and thats why they are in Jail (currently out on bond). Just arresting him because he fled (all though pointless to begin with) was not the reason for them being in Jail.
That statement makes it appear that immunity from all charges ever is the only thing that will satisfy them.
They are more afraid of going to jail for doing their jobs properly than they are of getting shot on duty.
I have both, but I honestly don’t use the slow cooker all that much, because I also have a pressure cooker and it’s faster (and supposedly preserves the nutrients more). The rice cooker is quicker than the slow cooker and would be great for those rice-and-chicken (or other protein) meals.
Yes hazy, but American Hustle jogged all the memories of what a contemporary called the decade that taste forgot
Oh yes, those, they were quite charming ... despite being a teenager in the early to mid 70’s I managed to somehow avoid that look.
Fuck that shit!
Hmmm.. I smell fear. I sense reluctance. Reluctance to comment. People waiting, peeking in, to see who commented, what was said, about what part, parts. Maybe I shouldn’t be here either. Shit.
So..... how about that Google I/O ??? : )
