Ha! I'm not good enough at fixing things to have that philosophy!

These guys were Holman and Moody, and this is one of Fred Lorenzen's cars. Fred was inducted into the NASCAR hall of fame last week.

That steel wheel wasn't the only steel object in that car. To drive these death traps, the drive had to own a couple. When everyone talks about the wanting race cars to be production based, I think of these photos and Fireball Roberts.

My favorite, because I'm a huge Holman Moody fan.

Odd. It's probably like batting, there isn't one true way to do it. I did mine a Miller Motorsports Park. It was a helluva time.

It does look cooler with a proper transmission.

Repetition, I'd say.

When I went to driving school they said that that was proper. 3 and 9 and keep your hands on the wheel.

I guess my take away is that NASCAR in Smokey's time was really ran by Bill France, in a way that it isn't ran today, and Bill pulled stunts like the 427 SOHC. The rules are tighter today, and written down.

Have you read his autobiography? I would think that Smokey would have been a difficult person to get along with if you disagreed with him in any way.

Nothing is what it once was. A great deal of this is because of safety.

Three my ass, how about the second place guy being within fourteen laps of the leader?

Thank you. I'll never understand why NASCAR posts on Jalop bring so much vitriol. It's a motorsport for God's sake. I'm not into drag racing, but if there was a story on here about Bob Glidden I wouldn't rant about it.

I get the impression that you don't care for NASCAR from your multiple posts on the subject.

1973 Mustang interior. Goodness it's horrible.

I decided on a Boss 302. The mileage is shit, but daumn!, it's fun!

Are we the editors?

Really? What did you decide on?

I can't imagine Ganassi letting go of the golden child!

Chase Elliot.
