The only complaint about this awesome story is the title makes it sound like it was someone’s personal car, not a prepped M4 by a business that makes cars designed for this...

Dealers also solve HUGE financial challenges for the manufacturers... making the dealer-owners buy the real estate, build the dealer facility, equip the shops, deal with P&Z, handle financing....stock parts, hire and fire techs. The list of “stuff GM doesn’t have to worry about” is pretty long.

This might be a good time to mention that Ferrari has been the only manufacturer to never pull out of F1, whereas everyone else have flipflopped continuously for a variety of reasons.

I don think cars in the collector or enthusiast realms will see too much depreciation. Most people who can have a fun car will be able to hold onto it. 

It’s seriously a hard choice to make. Even well-intentioned businesses are caught between a rock and a hard place, wanting to support their workers’ livelihoods without endangering their lives or furthering the spread of the virus.
