The 4C has been a dark horse in my “what sports car next” race. I’m not in love with the looks and I’m absolutely terrified of any repair beyond basic maintenance due to cost, complexity and lack of geographical facilities but something about it always keeps it on my radar.

It’s possible the sales person had very little idea about any actual warranty but this places the blame at the feet of the dealership. I would never anticipate a person in sales to understand a mechanical warranty...it’s just not part of their wheelhouse. Customer will just have to show that the dealer/dealer’s staff…

I didn’t consider having to claim it as income. What value do they use? MSRP? The tournament’s “expressed” value?

The real question is, who would decline a free Mercedes? Rich, poor, crap golfer or pro doesn’t doesn’t really factor into the equation.

GM dealers have zero control until vehicles reach their lots. It’s not that they *won’t* tell you...it’s literally because they can’t.

I still think a season or two trial of weight ballasts added for race wins like some touring car championships have would help this. Podium finishers all take a weight penalty into the next race (1st gets heaviest, 2nd a little less, etc). This way it brings that car/driver back within grasp of the other teams. Then…
