Yea the VQ was a pretty solid motor. It didn’t care much for timing chain guides and that whole generation of Nissan motors chewed up crank/camshaft position sensors but the VQ was otherwise a really solid motor. the automatic transmissions they were bolted to however......

There is a caveat here. The 2.5L Altima was TRASH. The 3.5L was, for all intents and purposes, not awful and relatively quick. It was basically a Maxima that could be had for cheaper.
