That's what my non-famous rescue cat does.
That's what my non-famous rescue cat does.
There are less than legal ways to see it. I watched it last week and loved it so much, I'll see it again when my local theater gets it. I'm also considering pre-ordering one of these as a Christmas gift for my partner.
It's definitely disheartening. I know so many minorities are underrepresented in the media, but I guess I find it so personally frustrating because we finally had a Korean man on television as a romantic lead (via blind casting, no less) and now Scott is whitewashing a story in which an Asian woman has a significant…
I imagine his interest in socialism meant that studios have only recently been open to making films about Robeson. I'm sure they'll catch flack from Fox News anyway.
He sounds like Shep Smith without all the random True Blood talk.
I've actually only seen Comedy Bang Bang when someone has put it on at work, though I liked what I saw. I should definitely get around to watching more. I volunteered at a comedy festival earlier this year and ran into Reggie Watts a few times. His hair is just as impressive in person, and he was definitely one of the…
Little Children is one of my favorite underappreciated films about suburban ennui. I'm a big Perrotta fan, and it felt like a very fitting adaptation. The end is different in some ways, but otherwise it's pretty faithful. I think Patrick Wilson works well in the role, as the Prom King who gets easily distracted…
Seeing Andy Daly in Portland over the summer was a highlight of the year for me. His filthy off-Broadway producer bit had me texting a friend with kids to ask if seeing Frozen would make me appreciate "Do You Want to Fuck a Snowman" more.
I found the novel pretty bland too, but I'm less excited about the movie having learned that the Korean NASA employee who discovers the lead is still alive is going to u played by a blonde model/actress. One of the most interesting aspects of the book is that, whether because he purposely wanted to leave room for the…
I'm definitely a fan of his earlier work, but I found the novel Silver Linings Playbook pretty insipid, and hearing about the script's deviations made me extremely unlikely to see the film. I watched part of American Hustle and felt that it was the lesser of the two Scorsese rip-offs that year. I remember reading…
I don't know if you can really call Russell a nobody when this film was in production. His early work was well-received by the indie crowd, Three Kings was a decent mainstream success, and I Heart Huckabees was well-known by my classmates at a suburban public school when it was released. It might have taken him a…
I'm surprised there's been no Lena Dunham newswire. It's extremely unfunny business, but it gets page views.
Considering how slowly Stillman writes, Adam Brody won't need to film any scenes until after the incest show gets canceled.
You clearly haven't heard of the sequel, 50 Faults of Stars, in which Shailene Woodley deals with her depression and looming mortality by fucking Willem Dafoe in the Anne Frank House.
I agree, and I highly recommend the Romanian film Beyond the Hills which is a non-supernatural movie based on the same case. It's far more unsettling than any big budget demon movie.
That's basically what happened in the case this film is based on. A young nun was diagnosed and treated for schizophrenia, but the priest and four other nuns tied her up, refused her food and water, and she died a few days later. The priest says it's the emergency medical staff who killed her with an overdose of…
This sounds an awful lot like a movie I inadvertently spoiled here a couple years back, because I assumed that the true event it was based on had received enough media attention most people would have already known the ending. I still laugh sometimes about the deadly serious "You thought wrong" reply an angry user…
It is. I've considered putting all abortion-themed movies, including October Baby on my pick shelf at the video store, but I feel like I might be massacred by conservatives after they accidentally rent Lake of Fire.
Clearly, you've never seen October Baby.
I highly recommend reading Leni, the most comprehensive biography of Riefenstahl. It does a decent job of exploring her as a seminal female director, while also talking about why her "I knew nothing" defense is basically a load of bullshit, based on documents, letters, and personal testimony.
