I mean, could they just remake the original game’s Factions MP with Last of Us Two’s modern gameplay and call it a day? A full live service game with years of planned content did seem too much, why not just give us a modern way to play the MP so many people found surprisingly good from back in the day?

This snark never made sense to me. The job is to find newsworthy or interesting things to share with readers. Why would it matter that the interesting thing was found on Reddit, or Twitter, or anywhere else? It should only matter that it’s interesting to the audience that reads this site.

Maybe not the number itself, but anyone at that age can veer almost immediately from healthy and alert to seriously impaired.  It’s not a good idea to have that person sitting in a Senate seat waiting for it to happen.

Compared to who exactly? What directors has an entire filmography without any adaptation or inspirations?

By your standard Kubrick also can’t come up with original ideas, neither does Spielberg, Tarantino, David Fincher, Scorsese etc etc.
How dare they adapt books, hire screenwriters, make biopics or have original

My man, as much as I enjoy all things Witcher, it is a sword and sorcery adventure stitched together from short stories and extremely heavy on the pastiche. Its not Ulysses.

I’ve seen people upset that artists’ work is being used without their consent, regardless of whether or not it’s used to make money.

Ok.

It just means you’re not familiar with the media its copying, and thats fine. Its kind of like when an anime character does some weird thing, and everyone goes “what does that mean?” but anime fans know its visual shorthand for a very specific emotional response, or something.

I leveled to 50 and finally unlocked those paragon tiles things, and then saw the ludicrously steeply increasing XP requirements to level to 100 and promptly lost all will to continue playing the game.

I loved HZD’s ending. It was probably the first time I felt something close to pride for a player character. I KNEW the sequel would have its work cut out for it to match that journey. Personally speaking, they didn’t really get there - but I did enjoy it nonetheless.

+1 on Portal 2, too, that ending was a masterclass.

Also Portal 2. The freaking MOON. The turret opera. “When I delete you maybe I’ll stop feeling so bad.” Wheatley hanging out with the space orb. Chell finally being free. I’m mad we never got closure for Half-Life, but I’m super happy Portal got the ending it deserved.

Horizon Zero Dawn’s ending is always going to stick with me. (Spoilers obv)

I’m sure everyone will have one not on the list lol :) Mine: AC2 when the ‘hologram’ stops talking to Ezio, who was in the room with her, and starts addressing Desmond who was in the Animus. It was a scream out loud  ‘OMG!’ drop the controller moment for me.

Am I the only person who sees an in-depth character creator and then just chooses the default face and hairstyle that look most like my own lol

Absolutely not. Humans enjoy specific protections and rights under law, that machines, systems and other non-human entities *do not have*. This is a philosophical position which has been enshrined in law for ages, and has a trainload of presendence. That alone presents a huge barrier to the dystopia you envision.
To

Setting a precedent that AI output needs to credit or pay the creators of the art used to train it sets a scary legal precedent for human artists.

Human brain does not have perfect memory, it does not operates like A.I.’s deep learning, which can recognize patrons and mimic style perfectly. What’s more, an artist style comes from trying to mimic another style but failing, one could say. Eventually there must be a legal debate on that point because comparing them

Good. Fuck em
