I haven’t scanned thru all the replies, but I hope someone’s piped up for Beyond the Black Rainbow by now (oof, looks like it’s fallen off Netflix... never mind!) I’d bet the Stranger Things folk took quite a few notes on that one for 80s evocative dread and lab rat horror. Well... plenty worth a watch on Amazon…
