Personally, I feel like TLJ had Ren kill Snoke to put him firmly in the driver’s seat of his own destiny. Throughout VII and VIII, he’s constantly fighting against the light, so killing Snoke would remove the last obstacle before his redemption.

There’s stuff in the EU about Sith possessing inanimate objects or animals as basically their dark side versions of Force ghosts. Seems like they could’ve just had Kylo come across Palpatine’s dark spirit in his quest for power.
From what I’ve seen, TRoS says “Hey! Remember that thing?!” and The Mandolorian takes it a step further and says “Here’s more of that thing!”.
The main arc of TLJ is an emotional one. It’s about Rey figuring out who she is. The ship chase is just a tether to tie all the characters together. To say that nothing happened is baffling. Rey admits that her parents were nobodies, but learns that she can still have a place in the galaxy. In this process, she…
I’m sorry, I meant Vader. My mistake.
I don’t think most people have the dialogue from RotJ memorized, but the Emperor literally threatens Luke with turning his twin sister to the dark side. That was a thing that happened and I think a lot of people would remember that.
Chain of events in TRoS:
Highly disagree. The problem with what we got was that it was a disjointed mess. We’re introduced to Leia training Rey about 1.5 hours before learning that she did actually train with Luke.
It was a wonderful addition to this movie but would’ve made a ton more sense in TFA.
No amount of JJ Abrams shoehorned callbacks will every give me the same jolt of nostalgia as the KotOR sound effects in this video.
It’s literally a movie designed to be best experienced in a theater. I think that’s the only reason it held its record for as long as it did.
One of my most favorite bands, but I’ll never be able to un-hear “She should have... venison.”.
No idea, but she survives the prequels and the OT without somehow ever being mentioned by the main characters.
If it wasn’t about Anakin, Phantom Menace would’ve been a really fun standalone movie about a Jedi and his Padawan encountering a prodigy during relatively routine (for pre-Civil War Jedi, at least) duties.
Only Ben Shapiro could be wrong some many times in one tweet.
Right. Like how “Snoke is nobody.” is much more preferrable to “Oh, we keep of jar of Snoke’s in the corner.”
I won’t say that the story was telegraphed by TFA because I don’t believe they had the faintest clue where they were headed at that time
TLJ set up plenty for a finale (Rey is trained, Ren is Supreme Leader, the Resistance is reborn). It’s just that JJ didn’t want to or feel obligated to move forward with the pieces laid out before him. And honestly, he should have and the entire trilogy suffered from his decision not to.
I think her implied death in that scene will be retconned via some use of the World Between Worlds. Filoni absolutely refuses to let her die.
Ahsoka could be this presence as she isn’t technically a jedi, just a force user with lightsabers.
