I think the ratio of effort to success is the critical factor here. Like you said, those Lions and Browns teams were trying to win and failed miserably.

While I agree with you on the sense that they all looked good in college, I think the instances of the “experts” depreciating the abilities of the guys I mentioned is more indicative of the quality of the decision-makers, or at least the decision-making process.

Later, things got more exciting when Gurgel built machines with bold-looking bodies made of a material called Plasteel, which was a blend of fiberglass and steel.

This is A&M we’re talking about. It’s a cult. Stealing Manzel’s jersey would be akin to stealing the Shroud of Turin.

Also the random and unlikely outcome you’re referring to is what typically happens to QBs when they’re sacked too much. Romo, Rodgers, and Foles are examples.

Well, at least I’m not a stupid baby.

The alarming thing is the level of authority the rules experts had before moving into the booth. Pereira was the VP of Officiating before he retired (and he’s been the best rules expert so far). Dean Blandino was also a VP of Officiating and seems pretty terrible at actual officiating.

I think it’s important to have the team around the rookie QB. That’s when they are the absolute cheapest. Miami looks like it’s going to draft an entire core in one or two drafts, which just means that core is going to want big contracts at the same time.

Ok, here we go. Things Jameis will be remembered for ranked.

So, a broken clavicle would be good for him. Got it.

“I know what I said in New Orleans about killing the head, but no one died.” - Gregg Williams probably

You see, in circles like the two you mentioned, experience trumps aptitude. Little Jimmy over there might make a great coach one day, but he doesn’t have the experience one earns when leading a squad to a bottom-5 finish in total defense.

I really am hopeful that the CFP and how they rank teams is steering teams in that direction. Texas’s close loss to LSU will look a lot better than their curbstomping of Rice. Eventually, someone’s going to grab a couple of low-level Power 5 teams instead of someone from the FCS and that’s going to be the deal breaker

The fervor that students who attendpeople who live near, but never attended their favorite SEC schools have for their respective football programs is so well known that it’s become cliché for religious comparisons to be made.

He’s a coward because he went for his FG at the 1-ydr. line, but you’re ignoring the second part of his plan, which was to go for the TD from the 40. That takes guts.

Watson’s going to be the first QB to ask for a trade despite a decent contract and weapons around him simply because the team refused to invest in the 0-line.

What experience is there to gain when the team around him sucks?

We’re all a lot more confident in Teddy. There’s a reason we let Taysom play WR/RB/ST/PR..

Can’t vouch for how old that guy is, but we recently saw guys like Dak Prescott and Deshaun Watson depreciated in spite of their college careers against top-tier competition. Remember when Russell Wilson was too short?

They’re tanking for Tua. After they draft him and no one else, he’ll be ruined and they’ll still have the first pick in 2021.
