I finally broke down and started binging them. Finished Clone Wars and am working my way through S2 of Rebels now. The change in animation quality was surprising, although the final few episodes of Clone Wars is partly to blame for that. They really went out in style with those.

The one that doesn’t get enough hate is TFA. It set the whole sequel trilogy up to fail by simply making it a retelling of the OT, enabled in the most callous way by just setting fire to every victory won in the OT and then sticking a lightsaber through the series’ most popular character.

And we’ll hear them because those idiots think he’s some business genius when he’s only rich because daddy was rich and he’d be richer still if he’d just invested the inheritance and gone to live on a beach somewhere (oh, and maybe 300-400 thousand Americans would still be alive too).

It must really be easy to be a Republican because you don’t even have to make sense when you say something. It just has to SOUND good (or scary, if that’s what you’re going for). And they are utterly immune to hypocrisy, which is why they can keep going on an on about the COVID vaccine while never having said one word…

They’ll probably point to something like Kathy Griffin’s severed Trump head photoshop as an example that “the Left” does this sort of thing too without bothering to acknowledge either the difference between a celebrity doing shit like this…

That’s the thing. He’s passing it off as a joke or a meme or “just anime” but he knows full fucking well how crazy some of his supporters are and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s hoping someone does act out on it.

First I do remember that. Second, they got something done even if it wasn’t everything we wanted. It’s more than they can get done today.

Bingo. I see a lot of people griping, “Why did we elect this majority if they get nothing done!” without acknowledging what a pathetic majority it is. The slimmest possible majority and yet failing to get sweeping progressive legislation passed is still the fault of “the Democrats”.

Nah, the good news is that they are comfortable with hypocrisy now, so we won’t be seeing them go after seat belts or public decency laws. We won’t ever see them “concerned” about those “No shirts, No shoes, No service” signs the way they are “concerned” about “No masks, No service” signs.

Yeah, where IS that Fox News segment? I am expecting to see a deep dive on why seat belts are restricting freedoms and don’t work and we should let people make their own personal decisions.

Yeah, they can’t surprise me anymore because I just assume they will make the worst possible, unthinking, response to pretty much anything now.

a lot of this seems to come from the fact that they’ve internalized the belief that the political left thinks we’re smarter than them, and thinks they’re stupid. So they’re out to prove something.

No, they know what they are doing.  They are pandering to their voters.  I doubt they give two shits what actually happens as a result of their actions.  They will be rewarded by their voters just for having done it.

If Trump’s presidency showed conservative politicians (like these judges) anything, it’s that Republican voters don’t care about reasons... so why should they bother inventing a pretext for their fuckery when they can just do it?

I tend to assume most people at the top levels of government are there for themselves first and the rest of us second.... and I am rarely disappointed.
