That’s the thing. He’s passing it off as a joke or a meme or “just anime” but he knows full fucking well how crazy some of his supporters are and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s hoping someone does act out on it.

First I do remember that. Second, they got something done even if it wasn’t everything we wanted. It’s more than they can get done today.

Bingo. I see a lot of people griping, “Why did we elect this majority if they get nothing done!” without acknowledging what a pathetic majority it is. The slimmest possible majority and yet failing to get sweeping progressive legislation passed is still the fault of “the Democrats”.

and even that his life “would be much easier” as a Republican, he inexplicably claimed, “I don’t think the Rs would be any more happier [sic] with me than the Ds right now.”

“Screw all the sanctimony I’m seeing out there. If the shoe was on the other foot Alex Baldwin would literally be the first person pissing on everybody’s grave trying to make a point. F*ck him!” Junior said in an Instagram story.

The organizer offers an even more succinct assessment when asked what they would say to Trump.

It’s got nothing to do with kids feeling bad. This is another conservative lie. The truth is they don’t want anything to change. Or they want it to go backwards. None of that can happen if kids are being taught why we don’t want to GO backwards.

The Indoctrination Theory is not nearly as clever as its proponents think it is. It is merely an application of the “It was all a dream” trope. The idea that it seems to “fit” the events is an illusion because this trope fits ANY events. That’s its purpose. It retcons an existing and possibly unpopular story by saying

Nah, the good news is that they are comfortable with hypocrisy now, so we won’t be seeing them go after seat belts or public decency laws. We won’t ever see them “concerned” about those “No shirts, No shoes, No service” signs the way they are “concerned” about “No masks, No service” signs.

Yeah, where IS that Fox News segment? I am expecting to see a deep dive on why seat belts are restricting freedoms and don’t work and we should let people make their own personal decisions.

Yeah, they can’t surprise me anymore because I just assume they will make the worst possible, unthinking, response to pretty much anything now.

a lot of this seems to come from the fact that they’ve internalized the belief that the political left thinks we’re smarter than them, and thinks they’re stupid. So they’re out to prove something.

No, they know what they are doing.  They are pandering to their voters.  I doubt they give two shits what actually happens as a result of their actions.  They will be rewarded by their voters just for having done it.

If Trump’s presidency showed conservative politicians (like these judges) anything, it’s that Republican voters don’t care about reasons... so why should they bother inventing a pretext for their fuckery when they can just do it?

I tend to assume most people at the top levels of government are there for themselves first and the rest of us second.... and I am rarely disappointed.

It certainly is a startling coincidence!

Yep. This is where people who think violence in video games is a problem get it wrong too. It’s not simulated violence that creates bad behavior. It’s actual competition. Whether that’s on a computer screen or a football field.

Yep.

The thing about Spicer is that pretty much everyone who came after him made him look like a better person.

I don’t know how anyone looks at the fact that 99% of the people dying of COVID aren’t vaccinated and says, “Nope! Not getting that vaccine! They are only doing it to control people!” meanwhile they get in their cars, drive the speed limit (or near enough to it), show their IDs at the airport, wear shoes and a shirt
