I saw Paul Simon on tour last year, at DAR Constitution Hall.  First of all, considering the man is pushing 70, he played forever and sounded great.  He also did one of the coolest things I've ever seen at any show. They started into the Graceland track, Gumboots and he flubbed the words. He stomped away angrily while

Maybe instead of this particular piece o' garbage in the making, they should adapt Brom's The Child Thief…..

The Greyjoys aren't interested b/c Theon has already f*cked it up. Asha says to him in the book "Krakens rise from sea Theon, or had you forgotten that in your time among the wolves?" She tells him that Winterfell is untenable for the Ironborn to hold and that if he had taken Bran and Rickon as hostages and fled back

This sucks.  They were a great band who always seemed to be having fun. Along w/ MTV and (oddly) a Dutch exchange student friend, they were the ones who got me interested in a lot of great hip hop including PE and the Native Tongues groups. RIP MCA.

Damn. I worked in Atlanta for about 8 months and liked Atlanta Book Exchange a lot.  The Book Nook in Decatur is also quite good.

Well played sir. I like that you completely bypassed the passive end of things.

We would also have accepted "(…) or you go write for SyFy."

Yes. Based on what you've said, you'll like this book. Plus, every review I've seen has been postive.  There's no attempt at meta fiction, no wandering aimlessly, just 2 propulsive stories nestled w/in one another. Plus, while the longer story has some 'accent' and unique dialogue, it's much less irritating than that

Just finished this, it was very good. I would have liked some more length and depth devoted to the Roland/Jaime story but still, def worth reading.

Thanks Otto, that is some freaky stuff. I guess there are segments of every movement/genre etc but this is one I hadn't imagined.

Great article Jason.  Moving account of your family life. Had my Dad not gotten sober (and by extension quit doing drugs), my life would certainly be a lot different, in a very dismal way.

@Scrawler2:disqus   I think the ballpark figure is 250-300 words per page, which means the extra 12,000 words (per everyone's fav source, Wikipedia) in AG is worth 40-50 pages, very roughly.

Jim Butcher had a good April Fool prank in which his assistant sent out an email blast saying he was putting the Dresden Files (and other upcoming series) aside and starting to write a new paranormal series based on the romantic trials and tribulations of Bigfoot.  It was well written enough that I just shrugged and

I'd also suggest Richard Morgan's The Steel Remains.

I saw that GRRM had recently read a chapter from WoW that has Arianne going to the Stormlands to meet Aegon. I think Doran hedges his bets (and plots) better than any other character save Tywin and Varys. One way or another Dorne is gonna be allied to the remaining Targaryeons.

Do they need to? I think Bolton will just produce some Northern looking girl and via exposition, non-book readers will learn he's made up a fake Arya.  Also, I don't think it messes w/ Theon's redemption much, he'd still be in the same place of wanting to get the girl away from Ramsey.

They tend to be light, quick reads, but Martinez  definitely writes an entertaining book.
