Exactly, it's bad writing in terms of understanding multiple facets of the character. He wouldn't do that + he wouldn't be caught ignorant.

Late to the convo but is anyone yelling that LittleFinger would NEVER have done that to his beloved Cat's daughter (who he wants)?
I really like the Just An American Boy live album a lot. Nice overview of his stuff + a more bluegrass sound + some of the anecdotes he often tells between songs are on there.
I finished A Visit from the Goon Squad and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also read NOS482 and liked it, though I wanted to see more of Christmasland. Mrs. Union was nice enough to surprise me w/ a couple of books recently so I just started The 5th Wave and will read Wool after that. In the meantime I've got Cities of the…
My Dad can't drive past a yard sale w/o stopping. That was great as a kid b/c he'd always be bringing home random books, mostly SciFi and fantasy. My parent would end up being musical mentors almost inadvertently as a lot of the stuff they liked I disdained as a teen but grew to love later.
That's interesting and very possible. I took it as a reference to the wolves of her "pack" i.e. her family. Different colored eyes and one is said to be dead ie Lady, Sansa's wolf.
I understand why they substituted Gendry for Edric Storm, but the way they did it was lousy. Regardless of the individual characters weak justifications, it totally undermines Beric and Thoros to have them basically sell someone to Melisandre. These are two of the most loyal and noble characters in the series, this…
James Herriot! Those books were incredible.
I have to go w/ the Hobbit and Watership Down. I still re-read both every couple of years.
Too bad Sunbird is a repeat, but it's an awesome story.
Prices vary a lot but there's some stuff available through alibris.com
I hope you don't mind my saying that your parents kick some serious ass. So much bad or indifferent parenting out there that I'm not exaggerating in saying that you made my Friday, both their actions and your adult decision about what was best for your daughter.
@avclub-0f0d67e214f9fef69b278e3d08114da9:disqus is right, the 2nd book is so much more adult vs OSUS.
It is a shame, especially considering the YA revival that seems to be going on. The Sword and the Spirits books were definitely a little more grim/adult and I think YA readers today would like them.
There's also another, adult, series based on the Mabinogion, by Evangeline Walton, The Children of Llyr, The Island of the Mighty etc. I remember them as being enjoyable but I read them a long, long time ago.
I agree w/ @avclub-a1967e6de4ca99fb2635d94b99453928:disqus I don't remember it being that negative. I remember being more sad at the whole idea of 'magic leaving the world.' Eilonwy makes an adult decision to stay with the person she loves.
Such a good series, one of my favorites as a kid. Alexander's other books (Westmark etc) are also great.
I'm glad that Dando seems to have conquered his demons, or is at least controlling them. The last couple of times I've seen him, he's sounded good and behaved normally. Well, except for appearing to briefly fall asleep at the merch table at Black Cat…
Suuuuure you are big guy!
I looked at the first 2 Guardians books which are both free but was really put off w/ how slowly the transition between panels happens. Part of the fun is being able to pull back, look at the entire page and then jump in to details. That seems to be missing in this format.
