Chevy, in their infinite brilliance, decided to make this car’s infotainment system completely impossible to replace. If I had a Malibu I could just buy some parts from Crutchfield and do it myself with aftermarket gear. But because I opted for a mid-trim Impala I should open my wallet.

I’m just going to start buying

What? There are loads of sub $10k used cars that are plenty reliable. Heck, there are plenty of sub $5k used cars at this point. No, you’re not going to get a loaded Tahoe, but if you’re willing to be a grown up and make the tough choices, you can find perfectly reliable rides out there.

I like my tires with 78% nitrogen and about 21% oxygen for best performance.

Better check your fluids before starting your Jag. That’s one hell of an oil leak.

A Prius. Because your kid is definitely not going to have fun in one of those and will learn the value of making good money to afford the nicer things in life.

It’s got a cop motor, a four hundred and forty cubic inch plant. It’s got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters, so it’ll run good on regular gas. What do you say? Is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

I technically can afford a new car. I just choose not too. That is why I can afford a new car.

Double-tap if you ever had this setup in your car.

I didn’t hear enough squeaks and rattles. Definitely inaccurate.

Why in the world would you dump another dime into this hunk of shit? Sell the 3 panels that are solid and the wheels and make your $800 back.

Compare this with the current Civic Si which is going to look really terribly dated in ten years.

Can confirm the traffic parting. Friend had one of these, ex state police car so it was black with white doors and a spotlight. Put a tow truck light bar on it and a couple of antennas. Traffic would part like the Red Sea, nobody would pass him, and just for kicks sometimes he’d sit on the side of the highway eating

What really bothers me is that a listing for a car with a motor swap doesn’t have a picture of the engine compartment. I’m imagining opening that decklid and finding a massive rat’s nest of wiring, hoses routed every-which-way, half-assed sheet-metal work for clearance, etc.

My daily is a 2005 Prius that I paid $800 for non running. 8 replacement battery cells out of 28 later and I wouldn’t say it drives great but it gets me around and continuously maintains 40-47mpg on my commutes. To be honest, if this one destroyed itself I would be on CL looking for its replacement immediately...I

I had the Echo based first gen Prius. It WAS a fine car, and quite simply the cheapest car to run that I had ever owned. I loved it, despite being fleet white over rental car grey, with only the mileage screen giving that car any semblance of “fun”. Now that said, the problem with the Prius, wasn’t the Prius. It was

It looks like someone beat a Pontiac Aztec with the ugly stick.

Windows user: “my laptop died.”

You’ve grown up around a lot of German cars it seems, how about trying out America’s counter to them? you want to not use too much fuel, and I get that, so I’m not gonna sit here and suggest an SS or a CTS-V. BUT, you CAN get a CTS Vsport in your price range. It’s a 2014 so you still get GM’s wonderful alpha platform,

I’m not surprised. Small cars simply don’t work in America. Sure, you could drive one, but why would you limit yourself to a compact car in a world of wide roads, enormous parking spaces, and cheap gas? It’s the equivalent of starting a fire with flint/steel rather than just using a lighter.

Lol “You can’t drive this new car because it’s already broken”
